Very excited to be at this point in the painting. I prepped & “sunk” the boat last night. A beautiful day at 46°F to spend under the sky. I have my work cut out for me now.

I started this painting more than two years ago and am at last beginning to see its outcome.
Today I’m checking the proportions and relationship between the wooden boat and the painted surface. Long way to go on each, but I’m very happy with how things are turning out.
I have a thing for fishing lures. I’m not sure why exactly… I don’t fish. Here’s some details from past #paintings. I use ashes and small seeds from our field for texture.
Here’s a great writeup on my painting Verehrung, which is currently on display in the Profiles showroom in NYC:
Visualizing the Passage of Time in Eric Lee’s ‘Verehrung’
The painting Verehrung at Profiles, NY (200 LEX) in the New York Design Center. Profiles and Bicycle Fine Art are collaborating to show an ongoing showcase of contemporary art and design.
I had an amazing time with UWEC art students this morning. I loved every minute of it. I pulled no punches and was very straight with them about my experiences and what awaits them “out there” in the art world. I did my very best to encourage and inspire them, and to embolden them about their importance and worth. I care a lot for students and I wish them the very best.
My alma mater asked that I be a part of their current show, Tributaries: A Centennial Celebration of Art & Design Alumni now hanging in the Foster Gallery, UWEC through October 26.
