I continue my interest in specific structures set against the painted surface. Here we have the pilings of what will eventually be a bridge.

Solanus
Lots of progress made, but work continues on the current project (tentatively titled Solanus), with lots of refining ahead.
Dry Fit
The basics are complete and the structure as well as the painted portion of the work are moving along quickly.
Creating the Vault
Currently working on the vault of the structure of the current painting. Very challenging, but after much experimentation I’ve settled on using 1/8″ thick MDF material over 1/2 a cardboard roll to recreate the tiled roof. The tiles in this case are cut to 3/8 inches square with a 12 degree bevel to ensure a somewhat tight fit. Once fitted, I’ll sand the tiles smooth and paint them to match the plaster sides. 
Working on the Structure
For the current painting, I’m recreating a portion of the Globe Elevator in Superior, Wisconsin. More as this develops.
