Almost Done

This painting called The Ladder of Divine Ascent will be on display at my upcoming show at the Pablo Center at the Confluence in Eau Claire, WI, starting November 17th.

Some Recent Progress

Here are some details of the current work. The second pic shows at left the underdrawing of what will be a part of a cathedral. The goal is to complete this work by early summer.

Progress

Here you can see some of the hundreds of pilings that are being added which will eventually support the main structures which I’m working on now. Using blueprints, the idea is to mimic in a relatively accurate way the construction of sections of a large gravity dock such that are found on the Great Lakes.

New Project

4′ wide by 6′ tall on canvas. Another 3D work which will incorporate built wooden structures based on industrial scale docks as once found on Lake Superior. I’m utilizing hundred-year-old blueprints for their construction. This work will focus on time and to some extent, cycles.

Developing Work

A very long way to go before completed, but a good start. The structure at left is a small section of St. Mark’s Basilica at the Piazza San Marco, Venice. The structure at right is a part of a specific railroad trestle in Superior, Wisconsin. The work is 48X48 on canvas.

Beginning New Work

I continue my interest in specific structures set against the painted surface. Here we have the pilings of what will eventually be a bridge.
