the Dead and Dying of the Analogue world

Allouez marries processes to composition, media to concept; the properties inherent in my materials play an essential role in the direction, tenor and underlying meaning of the work itself. It is the first of my ‘landscape portraiture’ paintings wherein structures, all facing forward, personify and reflect directly my reactions to the structures. In this way the structures become 'self-portraits', as much a record of myself as the structures are a record - and reminder - of a brutal past. They are the archetypes of a productive, ravenous age, and their existence and proximity to us in the here-and-now is jarring: This is a portrait of American anxiety.
